The photo was taken on Sunday, August 13, 2000 during the Democratic Convention in Los Angeles. It was in the lobby of the St. Regis Hotel where I was a volunteer for the White House Staff during the convention. It was one of the greatest moments of my life since I am the first member of my immediate and extensive family to ever meet a sitting president. The photo opportunity was arranged by my good friend and President Clinton Deputy Chief of Staff, Maria Echaveste.
